Library

The Society long maintained a library of books on Alpine plants and related subjects for the use of members. In 2018 when we heard that the RHSI was putting their library into their headquarters in Laurelmere Cottage, in Marlay Park, we wondered if they might be interested in our books too, to provide a better long-term solution. The RHSI were very enthusiastic, with the result that all our books are now in Laurelmere, in a bookshelf we purchased for them, where they have been catalogued and made available to all users of the library. Anyone interested can go and browse and borrow them there – as well as the RHSI books. You can look at the catalogue online here: https://rhsi.ie/library/ and you can ask for a book to be held for you.

Our books are listed below, but you will also be able to borrow the RHSI books too. The library is open from 10am to 4pm every Monday. There are no particular lending rules but it was suggested books could be held for up to a month. Access to Laurelmere is normally via the main carpark on Grange Road and about a 5 minute walk. Those who are unable to walk can access Laurelmere by car via the entrance next to Three Rock Hockey club using flashing hazard lights and not exceeding 15 km/hr! The librarian is Brede and her telephone number is 0864075684. If you can’t go on a Monday you could ring Brede and arrange for a book to be left for you in the office, which is open from Monday to Friday, also 10am – 4pm. Please bring your AGS Fixtures Card for identification - it is also your membership card.
